WASHING INSTRUCTIONS

Try to keep your bandage on your new tattoo for at least 5-7 days*

*(or as many days, instructed by your artist)

Once removed follow the steps below to wash it thoroughly.

  1.  Slowly and Gently remove your bandage. You can run water on the bandage to help loosen the adhesive. The best way to remove the bandage is by pulling down and stretching it as you remove it.
  2. Wash your tattoo using Unscented Original Ivory Bar Soap, lather in the palm of your hand and using circular motions on the tattoo, wash and rinse the tattoo a few times.
  3. While your tattoo and hand are still wet, pay attention to the way your tattooed skin feels. If it feels slick or slimy, it wasn’t washed or rinsed well enough. Please repeat step 2.
  4. If there is still glue left behind on your skin from the bandage, you can use baby oil or coconut oil to help remove the residue and then give it another good wash as described in step 2.
  5. If the tattoo feels the same as the rest of your skin while it is wet, then you can move on to the next step.
  6. Allow the tattoo time to air dry naturally for at least 5-10 minutes. If you don’t have the time to air dry it you can use a clean piece of paper towel. Please DO NOT use a regular towel to dry the tattoo as you will contaminate it.

Aftercare Instructions

  1. Apply a small amount of “Body Art Aftercare” 2-3 times daily as needed for the next 2 weeks.
  2. Be sure not to apply too much during each application as your tattoo needs to be able to Breathe in order to Heal. The tattooed skin just needs to be a little “tacky”.
  3. Your tattoo is going to “flake” the same as a sunburn. Do not pick or scratch at it. Allow the skin to flake off naturally in its own time.
  4. Avoid using any regular body lotions, vaseline, vitamin E creams as these are not meant for tattoos and may affect the healing process.
